In April 2017, the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council announced the decision to transform Baoding's Xiong, Rongcheng, and Anxin counties into Xiong'an New Area, a new development area of national significance, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and quality of life, following the successes of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Shanghai's Pudong New Area.
From its humble beginnings of operating from an HDB flat as a small family business 25 years ago, foot reflexology centre Da Ying Jia, jointly started by brothers Chen Anping (Yao Wenlong) and Chen Anxin (Chen Tianwen), has now expanded into a large-scale business with many branches.
Now, both of them split-up and Anxin takes charge of the business operations of the new branches of Da Ying Jia while Anping stays in the original centre, becoming a foot reflexologist.
The town is divided into nine villages and one community, the following areas: Sijihong Community, Wuxing Village, Sijihong Village, Yuque Village, Changzheng Village, Xianfeng Village, Yangquehong Village, Dongfeng Village, Hongqi Village, and Anxin Village (四季红社区、五星村、四季红村、玉鹊村、长征村、先锋村、阳雀洪村、东风村、红旗村、安心村).
On 23 February 2017, Xi made on-site inspection to Anxin County and Baiyang Lake, chairing a symposium, listening to reports and delivering an important speech on the planning and construction of Xiong'an New Area.
