  • The assemblage of Pliocene plant macrofossils (wood, leaves, cones and seeds) is typical of present-day boreal forest, as it includes alder (Alnus), birch (Betula), bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata), larch (Larix), sweet gale (Myrica gale), spruce (Picea), pine (Pinus), and lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea), as well as the southern boreal tree, the white cedar (Thuja occidentalis).
  • The lake is dominated by tall fen vegetation, especially common reed, although in some areas bottle sedge bogbean, Yellow flag iris and greater pond sedge are locally dominant and there are patches of common club-rush, reed canary-grass, reedmace and greater tussock-sedge.
  • The area is also a habitat for the swamp cinquefoil (Potentilla palustris) and bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata), and in some drier areas there are also less hygrophilous plants.
