On October 24, 2023, attendees at Pitchblack Playback's album listening session in the dark at Riverside Studios in London for Oracular Spectacular and Little Dark Age were given a free flexidisc known as Bubblegum Dog, featuring a cryptic spoken word monologue which fans on Reddit speculated hints at new music and referenced an unreleased track whose title was seen on a whiteboard in the background of an image the band released during the making of Little Dark Age.
The album, recorded for Columbia Records, was the final spin-off product to the Massage book; already it had been "refashioned" into the fourth issue of Aspen magazine (which included a Gordon Mumma flexidisc, a poster of John Cage and page proofs from McLuhan's book), and the tie-in NBC documentary special, This Is Marshall McLuhan (March 1967).
