  • Golcar was formerly a township and chapelry, in 1866 Golcar became a separate civil parish, in 1894 Golcar became an urban district, on 1 April 1937 the district was abolished to form Colne Valley Urban District, part also went to the County Borough of Huddersfield.
  • Surrounding towns and villages within the Kirklees area include Crosland Moor, Golcar, Honley, Holmfirth, Linthwaite, Marsden, Netherton and Slaithwaite, with the villages of Saddleworth not far away across the county border in Oldham.

  • Amongst the 640 clubs entered into qualifying, nine were debutants; Buckhurst Hill, Bury AFC, Darlaston Town, Golcar United, Hilltop, Midhurst & Easebourne, Roffey, Shefford Town & Campton, and Worcester Raiders.
