  • The somewhat subglabrous leaves are pinnately compound into generally six paired, palmately cleft leaflets.
  • 8 cm or almost absent, slightly brown or tomentose, subglabrous; stipules deciduous, lanceolate, little brown tomentose, acuminate apex; ovate blade blade, oblong, rarely obovate, oblong-lanceolate, narrowly elliptical or elliptical-lanceolate, (2–) 4–8 × 1.
  • The opposite leaves have thinly coriaceous ovate to narrowly elliptic blades, 6–30 cm long by 2–10 cm wide, acuminate or apiculate, abruptly narrowed at the base, minutely pilose above, but white-tomentose to subglabrous beneath, with mostly shallow crenate - dentate margins.
  • 8-2 (occasionally 3) cm, papery, subglabrous or sparsely pubescent above, glabrescent below or pilose along veins.
  • Distinguishing features include: the broadly-elliptic to shortly-obovate leaves with retuse to shortly-cordate base and acute apex; 15-18 subparallel leaf-veins, which frequently branch basally and medially; tomentose indument on younger shoots, sparse later, becoming subglabrous, except over midrib which is tomentose with about 1mm long erect hairs; the inner petals glands; coriaceous to membranous, flattened petals, at first broadly-elliptical to acute, then expanding at maturity to obovate to acute, about 21.
  • broad; surface smooth, glabrous, viscid, sulfur-yellow, becoming brownish at the center on drying, margin concolorous, entire, incurved on drying; context rather thin, white to pale-yellow; lamellae sinuate-adnexed, rather broad, ventricose, not crowded, apparently pale-yellow when fresh, somewhat discolored on drying; spores ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, 5X3 μ; stipe equal, shining, subglabrous, sulfur-yellow, becoming nearly white when dry, 6-10 cm long, 8-12 mm thick.
  • Their shallow feathered (pinnate) lobes are doubly toothed (serrate) to pinnatipartite, with weak yellowish to brownish-purple spinules up to 2 millimetres situated at the margins, subglabrous, to scattered hairy (pubescent), above and densely webbed-woolly (arachnoid-lanate) below.
